What it means
Reconditioning is not a cleaning and a paint job
PEARL defines reconditioning as returning electrical equipment to safe operating condition, following the original manufacturer's instructions or industry standards, and testing it against recognized industrial testing standards.
That definition is the whole point. It draws a line between equipment that has been made safe and verified, and equipment that has simply been cleaned up and resold. When you buy a unit from us that carries the PEARL Reconditioned label, you are buying the first thing.

The process
What every unit goes through
Every category of equipment we recondition follows its own detailed checklist, but the core steps are consistent.

Inspection
Full inspection of the enclosure, case and housing for damage or contamination.

Contacts and conductors
Cleaned, tested and replated where needed.
- 03
Mechanical operation
Operating parts disassembled, cleaned, lubricated and function tested.

Torque verification
All screw and bolt connections torqued to manufacturer specification.

Identification
Final nameplate and label check to confirm the unit is correctly identified.
How you know
Look for the PEARL seal on the unit
When a unit passes, the seal goes on the equipment itself. It is not a sticker we print to make a breaker look better — it is a mark we are accredited to apply, and it is your guarantee that the reconditioning was done in compliance with PEARL's ANSI standard.
So when your equipment arrives, check for it. Each seal carries its own serial number and PEARL's own web address. If a supplier tells you something is “reconditioned” and there is no seal on it, that word is doing a lot of work with nothing behind it.
